Competitions, leagues and seasons

Besides your own flying, there are several ways to compete: against another pilot, with your airline towards a goal, in teams, and across Vaeroly.

Duels

Open Events & tours → Competitions and the Duels tab to challenge another pilot at your airline to fly the same route.

Pick the pilot, the route and how the duel is decided: softest landing or most points.
They have 3 days to accept. Once accepted, you both have 7 days to fly it.
When both flights are accepted, the better one wins, and the winner gets the airline's duel bonus (20 points unless your airline changed it).

If only one of you flies in time, that pilot wins. Either of you can call a duel off until someone has flown. If a flight in a duel is later rejected by staff, the duel opens again and any bonus it gave is taken back.

Community goals and team challenges

If your airline has them switched on, they show as tabs next to Duels on the Competitions page.

Community goals are targets the whole airline flies towards (hours, flights, distance, points or soft landings) over a few weeks. When a goal ends, everyone who helped gets the bonus for each tier reached.
Team challenges split pilots into teams (by hub, by rank, at random, or chosen by the pilots). The standings update as flights are accepted.

Airline leagues

Every month, airlines listed in the public directory are ranked against each other on the public League page: most flights, most hours, softest landings, happiest passengers, most punctual and most active pilots. The overall table adds up each airline's places, so a small airline that lands softly and on time can beat a big one. An airline needs at least 3 accepted flights in the month to be ranked.

Network seasons

If your airline takes part, Standings → Network season shows Vaeroly's quarterly season: pilots from every airline taking part, in divisions by the hours they had before the season started, ranked by the points their flights earn during it.

Pilots who chose to stay off leaderboards (on their Profile) are left out of leagues, seasons and team standings.
