Jumpseats and ferry flights

How to get yourself, or your aircraft, to the airport a flight leaves from.

Jumpseats

A jumpseat moves you to another airport without flying. Use Jumpseat to another airport on the flight list, or the Jumpseat to … buttons on the booking form, a tour or the map. You can't jumpseat while you hold a booking.

Jumpseats are free and unlimited unless your airline sets rules. It can set any of these:

  • A cost in points. It comes out of the points you can spend, as in the points shop. Your rank and the leaderboards keep counting every point you earned, so a jumpseat never costs you a rank.
  • A most per week. Counted over the last 7 days.
  • Hours between two jumpseats.

The jumpseat box on the flight list says which rules apply. When one stops you, the message says why and, for a limit or a wait, from when you can jumpseat again.

Ferry flights

If your airline makes aircraft fly from where they are, your booked aircraft may be at another airport. The booking page then shows an Aircraft step. Besides Pick another aircraft, it offers Book a ferry flight when your airline flies charters:

  1. Your booking is cancelled.
  2. If your airline makes pilots fly from where they are too, you jumpseat to the aircraft first, under the jumpseat rules above.
  3. A charter flight is booked on the same aircraft, from where it is to your flight's departure.

Fly the ferry flight as usual. Once it has landed, book your flight again: the aircraft is now there. If any check refuses (for example a jumpseat you can't pay for, or the aircraft is in maintenance), nothing changes and your booking stays.

For staff

Set the jumpseat rules on Airline settings → Settings → Pilots, under Jumpseat rules: Cost (points), Most per week and Hours between two. Leave a box empty for no rule. Every jumpseat is counted from the start, so a limit you set counts the jumpseats pilots took just before it.

Ferry flights use your charter settings (Charter flights on the Flights tab): with charters off there is no ferry button, and with On, and staff review every charter PIREP the ferry flight goes to review like any charter.
